Day 48 is in the books! No bike riding, and we are in Groveland, CA, ready for the final four days of cycling to Crissy Field!
Peggy, Maggie and I drove from Tracy, CA to the airport this morning, and I hung out at Starbucks in San Bruno, catching up while the Final SAGger (V13 Bill Redican) made his way from Philadelphia. I picked up Bill and we drove the 150+ miles to Groveland, about 20 miles from the starting point tomorrow.
Bill is a dear friend and we have known each other from grade school. I am so grateful he will be at the helm as we finish on Saturday. Bill and I went on golf trip in 1998 out in San Francisco and the final days of Ride Hard Breathe Easy will be his first trip back to San Francisco.
Groveland is a quaint town as you will see in the pictures. Our hotel is The Groveland Hotel and the beds remind me of a dollhouse. We went to a very unique bar (Iron Dog Saloon) for a burger and beer for dinner. And we marveled at the amount of money stuck to the ceiling and the size of the animals hanging up (hey Jeanine and Diana, do you remember what we saw in Nevada?)
Maggie and Peggy, thanks again for getting me into CA and out of Tonopah, the home of the Clown Motel! Bill, great to have you here and we will ride our 80+ miles toward Stockton tomorrow. We want to get a good ride in so we can be ready for The Eagles game on Thursday night football.
E A G L E S EAGLES!
