We woke up in Eads, CO after a wonderful night in the Cobblestone Suites! A new hotel that even had a bar! We drove to Arlington, CO (Mile Marker 132) for the start of the ride and off we went.
Forecast was for good temperatures, but a bit of wind. Well, I’ll tell you, that wind was a bear. The first three hours were tough, and about 32 miles in I saw my first glimpse of The Rockies. I think the views over the next few weeks, as promised by Eric, will be spectacular.
During the ride, we broke the 2000 mile mark, and by the end I have a little over 1500 miles to go. We went through a couple town like Crowley and Olney Springs (no Olney Heights) and saw a nice dedication to a firefighter who died in 2008.
We finally made it to Pueblo, and the route finished one block from The Elks in Pueblo. Sooooooo…, since Jim is an Elk, we did what good Elks do. We stopped in, met a few people, played some Bingo and tried a beer.
77 more miles down, a day off tomorrow and then a new SAGger, David LeDuc, on Thursday. Jim and I will drive up to Denver tomorrow so Jim can fly home on Thursday. I will pick up David and then David and I will drive back to The Elks, not play Bingo and pick up from where I left off.
Ride Hard Breathe Easy now has 27 days complete! Now, it’s time to start with The Colorado Rockies!!
