We had a new set of SAGgers (the 5th) today, with my beautiful sister Karen and her daughter Bridget joining the ride. Many, many thanks to my wife, Beth and our friend Karen for four very special days. We started at the Indianapolis Fire department and finished at Saint Louis this afternoon. We laughed and laughed and had an amazing time together. Ladies, you were awesome with the food, drinks, snacks and the caring you showed as we made our way West. You added to what Missy, Janet, Tom and Fred had already done, and you even found out where the windshield wiper fluid goes!
In addition to new SAGgers, there were several signs that important parts of my life were with me again ALL day.
First, we are staying in Wildwood, MO. As kids, we always went to Wildwood, NJ for our vacation. We also passed through Frontenac, MO and the last soccer team I played for was sponsored by The Frontenac Bar.
My son went to La Salle High School, and sure enough I rode right past a La Salle Middle school this afternoon. Also, Karen and Bridget saw a bakery called “Celebrating Life Cake Boutique”. And those who knew Dad know that one of his strongest beliefs was that life is to be celebrated. And we finished the evening at an Irish Pub (It was Irish night with $3 pints of Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks and what not) and we had a fun (if not spectacular) meal.
We completed another 35 miles today and will make our way to Rolla, MO tomorrow, about 80 miles. So after tomorrow, we will be officially 1/3 of the way done.
Still having a blast and thanks to everyone for your help! Enjoy the pictures!
